Mrs. Teabody Thwarts the Shivers

Good Morrow, Gentle Readers!

Straight off the bat, Mrs. Teabody implores anyone who has not begun the day with a steaming cuppa to correct the situation post haste. This is neither a day to shilly shally nor dawdle. Just outside Chez Teabody the air is a frigid nine degrees--the first dive into single digits this winter, and even the odious cat finds Mother Nature too hostile for his liking. To greet the day, Mrs. Teabody is enjoying Adagio Masala Chai: black tea, cardamom pods, ginger root, cloves and cinnamon bark with a wee bit of honey from Stoner Apiaries. It is as delightfully piquant on the tongue as it is aromatic to the senses.  According to Mr. Wikipedia: "Green cardamom is broadly used in South Asia to treat infections in teeth and gums, to prevent and treat throat troubles, congestion of the lungs and pulmonary tuberculosis, inflammation of eyelids and also digestive disorders. It also is used to break up kidney stones and gall stones, and was reportedly used as an antidote for both snake and scorpion venom."

Mrs. Teabody finds it unlikely to have her blissfully fine good health compromised this day by either snake or scorpion, but she is a wee bit "throaty" and believes the tea will be helpful. Mrs. Teabody suggests the combination of spices in "chai" mixtures to have a calming effect as well. Mme. Sophia claims it as her favorite tea, and Mme. Sophia possesses the wisdom of the ages. Tickle Your Fancy has just received a fresh supply so do stop by to try this marvelous tea.

Just as the day was ending yesterday, Mrs. Teabody noted that the bird feeders wanted filling, but the larders for  both seed and suet were empty. Mrs. Teabody was chuffed when Mr. Teabody went into the night to amend the situation returning some time later with ample seed and suet for the feathery friends and a lovely surprise for Mrs. Teabody: fawn suede, sheepskin-lined booties. Quel adorable!

Mrs. Teabody had thoughtlessly destroyed another pair of booties from Mr. Teabody one dampish April morning when she wore them into the rose garden as foot gear for the pruning process so she was doubly pleased that Mr. Teabody has  not only forgiven her reckless behavior but also wants her "dear little feet" ( Mr. Teabody's words) "kept warm." Mr. Teabody is a darling, is he not? Needless to say, Mrs. Teabody popped them on straight away and she encourages all Gentle Readers not to go about in bare feet on such a frigid morning.

Last, but in no way least, find and wear a robe, Gentle Readers, as you pad about your respective households. Robes provide both  warmth and comfort -- not to mention the delight of pockets-- a woefully under-appreciated feature of most useful ( if not altogether fashionable) clothing.  There you are -- proof against a shivery household, Gentle Reader.

Mrs. Teabody further implores you to accept the merits of wooly tights, knitted hats and lengthy scarves in these days when fashion must take a back seat--at least when one ventures out of doors or finds oneself dealing with a January day inside one's less than toasty domicile.

The goddess of dawn opens the heavens with her rosy fingers and golden arms. The day is yours to bend to your own desires. Mrs. Teabody hopes you will thwart the shivers and not wish away a single minute of it, Gentle Reader.
