Mrs. Teabody Is Rescued By Shakespeare!

Image
Good Morning, Gentle Reader. Mrs. Teabody's teacher friends everywhere are polishing off the last crumbs of the academic year, and Mrs. Teabody conveys her deepest regard for a job well done and exhorts each one of them to relegate any thoughts of August to the farthest reaches of their brains and embrace  the summer holiday on a day-to-day basis. Live each moment. In high schools and colleges everywhere, young men and women  are marching into auditoriums clothed in  the most unusual costume of gowns and mortarboards. Surrounded by the pomp and circumstance of this occasion, these young people will grasp a document with one hand and accept a congratulatory handshake -- perhaps it is his or her FIRST handshake! - - and in that moment that young man or woman is forever changed. Regardless of how tedious/absurd/glorious the ceremony might seem to its participants, it is often such a ceremony that spurs future efforts, and it is a rite of passage not to be taken lightly. Mrs. Teabody Gets Help

Image
Good Morning, Gentle Reader. "There's a bit of light," announced Mr. Teabody quietly at ten minutes before five, and indeed there was, and what a pleasure to greet the day in pajamas on the veranda sipping the day's first cuppa,  Adagio's  Pride and Joy, whilst listening to the morning chorus . Mrs. Teabody hopes you spend some of your time in the woods far from any thoroughfare to know what quiet is. Quiet is lovely. If you remember yesterday, and there is no reason you should not as it  happened so recently, perhaps you remember that Lady Glass and Mrs. Teabody had been struck by an acute case of plant envy upon viewing Lady MacDonald's sublime flowering foundation plant.  You, Gentle Reader, should be amazed to learn that one of Mrs. Teabody's esteemed friends, the Viscountess Ritchey, leapt to assist the two by identifying the plant as a black lace elderberry shown below. The Viscountess had scarcely revealed the identity before phone inquiri

Mrs. Teabody Cuts Cookies

Good Morning, Gentle Reader. Little eddies of fog swirl through the lush green treetops, and there is no sign of blue in the sky, but Lady Glass and Mrs. Teabody will shortly meet for their morning constitutional -- a great start to any day. Upon returning, there is sugar cookie dough to roll out and cut into little teapots. Yes, another treasure trove arrived at Tickle Your Fancy yesterday, and among the treasures was a stack of  shiny little circular tins containing three nesting teapot cookie cutters. Quel adorable! Mrs. Teabody had her first teapot-shaped "biscuit" at Gypsy's Tea Room a few weeks ago during the "April Snow" episode and has been longing to replicate the experience for her esteemed clientele. Could today be such a day? Mrs. Teabody has some trepidation about using packaged cookie dough, but what could possibly go wrong? Installment II Lady Glass and Mrs. Teabody were very derelict yesterday after exercise taking to one of their more clan

Mrs. Teabody Begs Off

"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May" is Mr. Shakespeare's perfect description of this May morning. In the garden the roses are being whipped sideways and the treetops are all astir. Everything is lush and green and temperate enough for the morning perambulation with Lady Glass but a wonky ear keeps Mrs. Teabody at home this morning. Yes, Gentle Reader, even under the influence of Auntie Biotics, this ear nonsense aches on. A nice mash with a stiff straw would probably take care of the matter, but Mrs. Teabody does so enjoy HEARING so that measure, however tempting, shall be resisted. Mrs. Teabody welcomes any and all home remedies and has considered pouring a nice cuppa down the tube, but again one does revere the sense of sound. Mrs. Teabody had to send her regrets to Lady Glass who is ever so sympathetic. Tickle Your Fancy is located in the Albert Stoner building at 110 Lincoln Way West. Many local folks remember it as Lodge's Variety Store and often

Mrs. Teabody Posts "in Peril" Pics

It's been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, Gentle Reader, so here are a quick four thousand from Mrs. Teabody Places Herself in Peri l . Enjoy from the comfort and safety of your computing chair. Amid the dangers were moments of great beauty. Rarely has this stream been so very white! Mr. Teabody and the Duchess Ming at the triage area. Lady Glass and Mr. Teabody make one of far too many "crossings." And now Mrs. Teabody shall enjoy a nice cuppa  chocolate chai and dream of a new adventure. Have a wonderful day, Darlings! Ta!

Good Morning ! The window is full of the new day and a screen of green. If today turns out to be half as beautiful as yesterday, Gentle Reader, Mother Nature must be feeling very generous toward the inhabitants of Earth. Mrs. Teabody adores nature. Given the choice between being indoors and out of doors on a mild day, Mrs. Teabody will always embrace fresh air. Mrs. Teabody also enjoys venturing forth through the woods on her daily perambulations with Lady Glass and the Duchess Ming. Let it be understood, however, that these forays though the woods  are on a well traveled, gravel-defined ROAD. Motor cars travel it daily. Houses containing fellow humans dot it intermittently. Rattlesnakes can be spotted crossing it from a mile away.  One day a Starbucks may spring up alongside. It is THAT civilized. In no way is the daily walk a preparation for HIKING. It must also be understood that Mrs. Teabody has never considered herself a HIKER. Goodness, no. Not for a minute. First of all,

Mrs. Teabody Talks About Mother

My mother and paternal grandmother with the first son.                                                                                                            "Wisdom from my mother? I know one to the letter: 'You're just as good as anyone  . . . not one iota better.'"   ~ Mrs. Teabody Good Morning, Gentle Reader! A fuzzy, foggy window scene announces this first Monday morning in May, and the day ahead is filled with appointments, duties and fun - - hopefully with the latter component in greater measure beginning with a morning perambulation through the green woods with Lady Glass and the Duchess Ming. This notching down in temperatures and the ambient gloom seem appropriate for a reflective week as America hurtles inexorably toward Sunday, May 13 which is Mother's Day. For those of you gentle readers who have a (living) mother hoping and waiting for some display of your regard and affection, Mrs. Teabody admonishes you to put a little thou

Mrs. Teabody and Co. Strike Off for Diversion

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May . ~ The Bard Happy, Happy May, Gentle Reader!  Mrs. Teabody sits by her window filled with fresh green hues as far as the eye can see. Unless Mrs. Teabody misses in her guess-timate, the new year's leaves are now almost completely unfurled and what a joy they are to behold! Even the copper beech is fully dressed and glowing. Lovely. Were it not for a certain seasonal respiratory disorder which makes Mrs. Teabody's head a sodden lump, all would be perfection! However, respiratory distress stories could soon fill a wastebasket, : ) and that is not the purpose of this missive. No, no. There is a short tale to share so please attend. A few days ago Mrs. Teabody listened to an interview with Marilou Henner, the cute redhead from "Taxi." Henner has a rare trait called superior autobiographical memory . She can remember each day of her life as if it were yesterday. According to Mr. Wikipedia, the condition is also know as
