Mrs. Teabody Enjoys Visits With Friends

 Good Morrow, My Dears!

Mrs. Teabody wishes everyone a brilliant winter solstice day. This day is important to Mr. and Mrs. Teabody because it is the shortest day of the year. Starting tomorrow the days will become longer. Incremental at first,  the lengthening day becomes more and more noteworthy, and everyone can begin thinking about spring. But Mrs, Teabody digresses . . .

Yesterday, Mrs. Teabody arrived early at Tickle Your Fancy because the new teas had arrived and she was eager to try Key West. This is a melange of tropical fruits and flavors and a treat to the taste buds. When Lady Betsy arrived, Mrs. Teabody was eager to see her friend's response. Surprisingly, Lady Betsy's eye caught the words "Raspberry Patch" on another new packet and soon both ladies were in a rhapsody over yet another new flavor. Delightful!

Another friend who eschews publicity of any kind -- Mrs. Teabody respects that! -- arrived and under the encouragement of Lady Betsy and Mrs. Teabody, she was agreeable to trying Raspberry Patch as well, declaring it "very good." Lady Betsy had to slip off to her place of employment just at Duchess Katherine arrived for lunch. Duchess Katherine is a  much favored traveling companion of Mrs. Teabody  and the conversation was all about art and travel and a divine trip Lady Catherine took recently to Marfa, Texas with her darling daughter:

Mrs. Teabody adores chat of this ilk, and the lunch was a fine one.  Sitting opposite Lady Catherine, Mrs. Teabody's memory was flooded with all the other happy times the two had shared and Lady Catherine's unflappable  good nature. Just as the last crumbs were inhaled, Mrs. Teabody glanced up to see the face of a dear old friend of eons past, Lady Fran, looking not one day older than last meeting.

Lady Fran was coerced  to try Raspberry Patch as well and the conversation changed to another favorite topic: textiles. Lady Fran has such genius manipulating textiles that Mrs. Teabody thinks she is probably capable of making a working MOTOR CAR out of a piece of linen and some thread, but this discussion turned to cushions and Lady Fran  has agreed to be on the lookout for some dazzling new florals to complement the seats at TYF. Very exciting.

No sooner had Lady Fran left than Duke Mortoni arrived with news that Duchess Mortoni was up and about and well on the mend. Hooray! This was happy news indeed to Mrs. Teabody as the Duchess has such a good-natured disposition and Mrs. Teabody frets so when anyone is suffering. The Duke made some exquisite purchases for his love and returned to the elements just as Viscountess Tollem arrived .

The Viscountess disdains titles and she is more affectionately known to all as "Peach." Peach would not allow herself to be drawn into a cuppa and went about making a few selections for friends saying all the while that she needed to be at her place of employment. Unfortunate as Mrs. Teabody ADORES Peach for her witty repartee. No sooner was she out the door than Mister Teabody arrived to repair the train and swap out cars with Mrs. Teabody. Seeing Mr. Teabody always delights Mrs. Teabody. :)

The remainder of the dreary and short Tuesday afternoon was dotted with visits from friends both old and new with talk of tea and Christmas, and homecomings and plans with one single theme unifying the day-- this is the season of hope and extending love!  Mrs. Teabody implores you to remember Ebenezer Scrooge's words after the visit from the final ghost:

" I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year."

Surely there is some  old or new friend whose day can be made lighter and brighter by a few words from you, Gentle Reader. Mrs. Teabody  knows you will make a call or a visit. Today.
May your day be merry and bright. See you tomorrow?
