Mrs. Teabody Finds a Home Away from Home in Copthorne Tara

Mrs. T. and Chaffinch share lunch at Sissinghurst

Good Morning from Mrs. Teabody's favorite side of the pond - the USA --where she and Lady Glass have just returned home after spending eight happy nights abroad in easily the most captivating city in the world - - London. Having made more than two dozen trips to London across a twenty-year period, Mrs. Teabody has had many hotel adventures from the rabbit warrrens near Russell Square, to the rental apartment with a kitchen big enough for 1 in Bayswater, to high rise tourist meccas in South Ken, and  not forgetting the single most alarming  accommodation near Euston Station run by a madman and/or possible murderer. But Mrs. Teabody digresses.

Copthorne Tara (CT) has won over Mrs. Teabody's future business for several important reasons which shall be listed here in order of their importance.

1. Safety and quiet. At the end of the day, one desires tranquility, a place to regain one's stamina and wits. The location of CT is a long block off the High Street and tucked around a corner in a cul-de-sac. Very little traffic and with visible staffing at all hours of the day, CT seemed very safe. Lady Glass and Mrs. T never felt a moment of alarm!

2. Club Room upgrade. Lady Glass and Mrs. Teabody shared a large Club room on the twelfth floor with twin beds so comfortable that new mattresses at both households are already in the plans. Wifi was included as was breakfast--everything anyone could desire including wonderful fresh fruit and berries. Tea, coffee and cappucino/espresso were available all day long and "Happy Hour" with wine and snacks from 6:30-8 proved a highlight of each and every day and a wonderful prelude to pub meals within easy walking distance. High marks to  all the staff in the Club Lounge. You were wonderful.

3, Location. Everyone mentions location and with good reason. The Tube is so close by. Two stops from Paddington, one stop from Portabello Market, an easy ride to all major tourist attractions. Above ground, the #9 takes you anywhere, and the area itself is lovely to walk around in with a Boots, M&S and easily the most fabulous Whole Foods Store Mrs. Teabody has ever seen. Bike rental stand (as if!!!--Mon Dieu!) is only a block away and the park is a ten-minute walk. Lovely part of town. Inside the tube station is a Pret a Manger as well as a sweets shop and just outside are the Thai Palace and the Muffin Man. No one should starve or be bored in this location.

4. Service. This is a full service hotel. The concierge fixed Mrs. Teabody's computer and told her when to take a jacket or umbrella. The front desk made calls to cancel reservations and issued a converter for a deposit. Unfailing politeness all around.

The Copthorne Tara is not a glamorous hotel nor is it a hip and chic trendy hotel. What it is is exactly the kind of hotel Mrs. Teabody wants when she spends time in London. And that is precisely why she will return. Perhaps you should give it a whirl.
By the way, there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME. :) Ta for now!
