Mrs. Teabody Confronts Imminent Danger
Darlings All!
Mrs. Teabody is loathe to discuss events of the last two days as she should not like to spend a July afternoon abed, and the mere remembrance sends her forehead vein athump. However, THINGS HAVE HAPPENED and while Mrs. Teabody and Lady Glass are back on friendly terms, Mrs. Teabody has not altogether forgiven her friend. To the matter:
Gentle Readers, Mrs. Teabody reminds you of the inexplicable series of events at the Ferrous' household: all the comings and goings, unexpected guests, fast motor cars. At Lady Glass's insistence, Mrs. Teabody packed a portmanteau with necessaries to spend two overnights at the cottage of Lady Blackthorne in an effort to examine the comings and goings at the Ferrous house. Mrs. Teabody is not fond of vacation cottages as you are well aware. In truth, Mrs. Teabody has little patience with being anywhere sans domestic help, and Lady Blackthorne's accommodation borders on primitive.
A long period of watchfulness rewarded Mrs. Teabody with no new information. Mr. Ferrous left for his daily employment with Lord Percy in tow. Mrs. Ferrous left the household with Baby a grand total of 11 times. Each exit inspired frenzied observation, but Mrs. Ferrous only pushed baby on the swing or walked through the garden. There was a skirmish among their domesticated fowl which Mrs. Teabody found amusing. However, so far there is no indication of any worthwhile intrigue. Problems ensued between Lady Glass and Mrs. Teabody when Mrs. Teabody learned from Dora, the cleaning girl Lady Glass employs, that Lady Glass has not been weeding her own border this summer. Lady Glass has hired a service.
Gentle Readers, Mrs. Teabody is shocked by this perfidy even though Lady Glass insists she never claimed to have kept her border so tidy on her own. The very thought of it sends Mrs. Teabody's blood rocketing and she must quiet it with some Tea Forte Raspberry Nectar. And a wee lie down, perhaps?
Happy Independence Day!
