Mrs. Teabody Takes a Holiday

Gentle Readers,

Mrs. Teabody is in a brown study this morning as she prepares for  her outing in New York City. It's a long journey by train, and Mr. Teabody is ever fearful that Mrs. Teabody will whiz right past her stop and land in some far-flung destination, but Mrs. Teabody has set various alarms to forestall that unfortunate event. Whether or not Mrs. Teabody embraces the Twenty-first century and has Floss pack her laptop computer -- To blog or not to blog? -- is a decision best left till after afternoon tea. Today's flavor is Tea Forte's Pomegranate Blackberry which can be quite energizing.

About  Floss. Floss is Mrs. Teabody's helpmate, and she has been a whirlwind of activity today with linens and laundry and preparing the motor car for the journey to the train station. Mrs. Teabody became quite cross with Floss when she intimated that Mr. and Mrs. Teabody could have a much more presentable motor car if the two did not use it as a gardening accessory! Mrs. Teabody suspects Floss does not approve of having to remove earth and gravel from the luggage hold, but Floss would have the good sense not to be so presumptuous as to say as much. Floss -- like Mrs. Moppit -- is indispensable to Mr. and Mrs. Teabody.

In observance of the holiday, Mr. and Mrs. Teabody enjoyed a lovely afternoon yesterday at her girlhood home in the company of her siblings. Lady Shumleywinks had prepared a delicious and generous repast, and Mrs. Teabody's youngest sibling who, Alas! like Mrs. Teabody has no title-- he is simply called Mr. Rosswell -- kept the table in high spirits with his witty repartee. Mrs. Teabody is VERY fond of witty repartee even from those who are neither earls nor dukes. Aren't you?

Floss has just announced lunch, but before Mrs. Teabody joins Mr. Teabody on the veranda, Mrs. Teabody needs to hint at an amusing anecdote she wishes to share involving Lady Glass.  Time prohibits doing so today but if the laptop computer accompanies Mrs. Teabody to New York City, perhaps you will learn of it on the morrow.
Enjoy this holiday Monday, My Dears!
