Mrs. Teabody and Company Visit Caesar's

Tuesday, September 18

Good Morning, Gentle Reader. Did the cooler temperatures and whirling weather give you a pleasant slumber last night? There is something delicious about being snugly abed while the elements cavort outside. Much preferable to being inside a motor car with two sisters  making their way home from a two-night stay at Caesar's on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City on a high speed highway in torrential rain sandwiched by eighteen-wheeled behemoths . Much. But to the heart of the matter.

Arriving in Atlantic City at Caesar's at 2:00 P.M., Mrs. Teabody, the Duchess Tilly and Lady Anne were pleased when "Johana" called them to her line and delivered the delightful news that the three had been given a mini-suite on the twentieth floor in the Ocean Tower. The numbering system for the Ocean Tower baffles most folks going from 1-2-3 to 7800-8200, etc. No matter as the room card directed the party to the 8200 floor and just a few steps along the brilliantly lighted corridor, they arrived at the correct number 8210 and with just one sharp intake of breath, the lot plunged into the lovely, commodious room that would be home for the next forty-eight hours. Decorated in soft French blue, rose, and cream, the room featured two  puffy white beds, a sleeper sofa, work area with two chairs, flat screen tv as well as floor lamps and another chair. Two windows looked out onto the Centurion Tower and the entire marina district. The ocean could be viewed by looking sharply right. The overall effect was one of spaciousness. The bathroom was equally commodious with a large shower and separate jacuzzi bath, two sink vanity and enclosed toilet. The huge closet was absolutely adequate for three women and their essential traveling wardrobes. Everything about the room was immaculate!

Lady Anne filled the fridge with snacks whilst the Duchess Tilly anted up the $18 fee for Internet use. Of course, Mrs. Teabody utilized the coffee making facilities to brew up a nice cuppa "Oriental Spice" to  make unpacking pleasant. After a spot of gaming it was time to head to Harrah's where Mrs. Teabody was scheduled for a six o'clock class at the Viking Cooking School (VCS).

This marks Mrs. Teabody's third time at the VCS, and each time has been delightful if not especially challenging. Olives soffrite  with crostini  accompanied by a fruity whipped cream vodka made a surprisingly nice aperitif as the group of sixteen would-be chefs made their way through baking a bacci ( kiss) cake, preparing Italian wedding soup,  breading eggplant and chicken cutlets, and chopping veg for salad and making a herby vinaigrette. Then it was off to the stovetop/ovens to finish off the lot with soup simmering nicely and the casserole fleshed out. Last chore was preparing linguine with olive oil and garlic. By 8:10 everyone was seated around a massive table lifting their glasses in celebration of their efforts. As a finale Mrs. Teabody was presented with her apron and a booklet listing all the recipes as well as a nice shopping list. An added bonus was a 15% discount in the retail shop. Brilliant, fun experience with very nice companions! Back at Caesar's Mrs. Teabody enjoyed a soothing jacuzzi bath and a nice cuppa chamomile.

The next day started with a nice walk along the Boardwalk in beautiful weather from Caesar's to Revel with a few meanders down to the ocean's edge. The brilliant day had drawn folks to the beach, and the ordinarily steely Atlantic was turned azure with sparkling diamonds topping the waves as far as the eye could see. This was THE picture to carry in the mind throughout the coming months. The visit to Revel was fun and amusing, but how anyone cannot find that wonderful bathroom with its spaceship gangplank renders Mrs. Teabody speechless. Had wonderful luck at the machines and enjoyed lovely iced tea in a GLASS. All too soon it was time to head back.  The lot had made up their minds to use food comps at Caesar's buffet for the main meal of the day around three o'clock, and if ever there was a time to be grateful for diamond status it was finding a line winding back to the escalator and being able to walk through the empty diamond line. Mon Dieu! In less time than it takes to say "Royal Flush" the three were seated at a pleasant table, and soon after that enjoying a repast of steamed shrimp, mussels marinara and steamed clams. Wine was $5 for a nice pinot grigio.

Lunch over, it was time for Mrs. Teabody to hit the ever-so-convenient Pier shops first visiting the third floor deck where she found the "food court"  quite busy with folks enjoying the ocean view as the day wound down. Mrs. Teabody was disappointed to find that three of her favorite haunts have gone away: Lush, Coach, and Chico's, but there was enough diversion and Mrs. Teabody did not leave empty-handed. Little smile. Back in the beautiful mini suite it was time to enjoy quiet surroundings and a great novel before making an early night of it and making good use of the marvelous comfy bed. Bliss.
Before you can say  "Tuesday morning," the night had turned to dawn and the three sisters packed their belongings with keen regret even though the sky had turned dark and rain was imminent. The voyage home was fraught with danger but the good sense of Duchess Tilly at the wheel and Lady Anne's navigating soon restored Mrs. Teabody's waning confidence in arriving home in good form. Soon enough, the skies cleared and as the three sisters began their ascent of Mrs. Teabody's beloved mountain, Mrs. Teabody could not help but think how very fortunate she is to have such wonderful sisters. Bless them and may they live and thrive forever! Ta for now, Gentle Reader! Enjoy this AUTUMN day.
